YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
Engaging Long Island’s growing leaders in the fight against bullying.
In our ongoing efforts to engage youth in the topic of bullying, the youth ambassador program is an instrumental way of assisting youth with necessary leadership skills as well as the future development and implementation of LICAB’s ideas and services.
The program will become the major outreach operation of LICAB’s by challenging and utilizing youth leadership to support and enhance coalition’s efforts to emphasize the importance of bully free communities on Long Island through education, increased awareness and therapeutic outlets.
Expand LICAB’s youth outreach and community engagement
Promote positive and comfortable communication between peers to combat bullying
Increase teen and youth participation within LICAB and its events
Ambassadors will engage their fellow peers and respective schools and/or districts and communities with 3 events or awareness and/or fund raising efforts
Compete a minimum of 40 hours of work each school year in the name of LICAB’s anti-bullying efforts
Develop strong and productive partnerships with fellow peers and adults
Develop effective communication and leadership qualities
ROLES, RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
A currently enrolled Freshman, Sophomore or Junior in a Long Island high school
Create & facilitate THREE school, district or community events
Receive parental consent
Contribute to the production of organization annual newsletter
Commit to attend two of four meetings
Mandatory attendance at annual Gala
Write insert for year-end report
Responsible for completing 40 hours of volunteer work (which may include the two required events)
